Islay is known as the Queen of the Hebrides and is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides. It is the fifth largest Scottish island in area but has a disproportionately high number of distilleries with a total of 9 working whisky distilleries. Typically, Islay malts are known for their smoky, peaty style. However, it's not all about the peat smoke and some of the big-hitters such as Bruichladdich are typically unpeated. Kilchoman is also Islay's only farm distillery producing Scotland's only Single Farm Single Malt.
